    BBC's Sherlock

This week we take a look at a recent summer film release with The Expendables. We also look at a downloadable game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. We also look at a BBC show, Sherlock. And we close things out with a look back at last weekend’s Toronto Fan Expo.

    The Expendables (01:30 – 17:23)

As the summer movie season winds down we have only a few big blockbuster entries left. With The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone has assembled a who’s who of big time action stars for his tale of a team of mercenaries. Listen to our review to see if it’s living up to all the hype.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game (17:35 – 24:30)

Kevin brings us a video game release based on another recent film and comic series, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. With a similar art style to the comic books, the game is a side-scroller that lets you guide Scott as he battles the 7 evil ex-boyfriends of Romona Flowers. Developed by Ubisoft, the game is available for download on the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade.

    Sherlock (25:00 – 46:39)

We recently discovered this import from the BBC starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson. There are currently only three 90 min episodes but there are plans to release more in the fall of 2011. Check out our review to see if this a series worth your time.

    Toronto Fan Expo recap (46:56 – 51:25)

Bill had a chance to check out the 3 day Toronto Fan Expo happening last weekend in, uhh, Toronto. He gives us the lowdown on some of the panels he checked out along with other sights of the expo.

  4. Cruisin the Trailer Park – Sherlock Holmes, The Road and Ghostbusters

    May 19, 2009 by Bill

    Sherlock Holmes

We just mentioned this on the podcast a couple of weeks back and now a new trailer has launched today. I’m honestly not sure what to make of this. On one hand it does look good but on the other, I’m not convinced fast action and explosions are what naturally come to mind when I think of Sherlock Holmes. I do know Mark Strong was awesome in RocknRolla so I’m definitely interested to see what he brings to the table.

    The Road

The Road is based on Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel. I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet but I hear its great. And last I checked, they don’t often hand Pulitzers out to shitty books. This certainly has a great cast so I’m looking forward to it.

    Ghostbusters

It seems like I’ve been hearing about this game forever and its finally due to come out next month. This looks like it could be promising and I think this could work really well on the Wii.

    Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus

And from the “So bad its terrible” file…

  5. Podcast Episode # 15 – Good Winkles

    May 6, 2009 by Bill

HeroesWe’re back again for another episode. The summer movie season officially kicked off this past weekend and we got all the goods starting with Wolverine. Is it the start to a great summer of movies or does it fall completely flat?

    • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
    • Deadpool – Suicide Kings Issue #1
    • The Heroes season finale
    • Drew enlightens us on Thor # 601
    • Kev & Drew follow up on Burnout Paradise
    • and some thoughts on the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie

In rewatching the trailer for Wolverine, I noticed something that I didn’t catch in the movie. It looks like there’s a young Storm that makes a cameo. Did anyone actually see her in the movie itself or was it cut? Leave your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
